IPL 2022 mega auction took place on February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru and a lot of big names went unsold despite being one of the pioneer players of their past IPL franchises. Saurabh Tiwary:

Saurabh Tiwary was one of the finds of the IPL in the inaugural edition and he made his way into the Indian side as well. The Jharkhand lad has played some important knocks for various IPL franchises in the past and he was part of the Mumbai Indians squad last year. Orange Cap

Shakib Al Hasan:

Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan was always in the radar of a lot of franchises but his unavailability in this IPL season had led to the 34-year-old going unsold in the mega auction. Shakib has been part of title winning KKR side in 2014 and was expected to go for big bucks.

Pawan Negi:

Pawan Negi is one of the rarest all-round commodities in IPL and he was even part of the 2016 T20 World Cup squad for India. Being one of the better strikers of the cricket ball, Negi can all be a handy left arm spinner and can extract a lot of spin on turning wickets.

Ben Cutting:

Australian all-rounder Ben Cutting was in great form in the recent PSL 2022 edition and he was expected to go for big money in the IPL 2022 mega auction. However, he has played just the odd cameos in IPL and hasn’t been consistent enough to be bagged by a franchise.

Amit Mishra:

Amit Mishra has the ability to turn around games on his own with his brilliant leg spin and it was a huge surprise that he did not get the nod in auction. The 39-year-old is among the all-time highest wicket-takers in IPL and has three hattricks to his name as well. Purple Cap

Dhawal Kulkarni:

Dhawal Kulkarni has been part of IPL since the inaugural edition and has the experience of playing 92 games. He returned to the Mumbai Indians squad last year and is among the few bowlers to have played at least one game in every season so far.

Andrew Tye:

Andrew Tye had a brilliant IPL in 2017 for the Gujarat Lions and he was picked up for big money in the 2018 mega auction by Punjab Kings. With 24 wickets in 14 games, he bagged the Purple Cap in 2018 and he played for the Rajasthan Royals in the previous season.


Ishant Sharma did not find any buyers in IPL 2022 mega auction despite being one of the experienced heads and has transformed into a good new-ball bowler. The right-arm seamer was part of the Delhi Capitals in previous edition and his high economy rate in the format would have not helped his cause.
